Starbucks wanted to start selling coffee beans in supermarkets. We had
the idea to romance the beans ala Indiana Jones. This ad was designed
to position Starbucks coffee beans as so rare and good that people
risked their lives in getting them to you. When the comp for the ad was
originally presented at Starbucks headquarters in Seattle, someone in
the conference room literally screamed. Now that’s a strong ad.
